Apple Lake Animal Hospital is a primary care animal hospital with a strong commitment to proactive wellness care.  As devoted advocates for animals,it is our obligation to offer the highest quality veterinary care available.  We believe that annual or biannual wellness exams, diagnostic and baseline testing, and life-stage preventative care are essential for optimal care for your pet.  We also believe that excellent client communication and education are a critical part of demonstrating our commitment to pets.

 

We require a high standard of care for patients who will undergo anesthesia. Pre-anesthetic blood testing is not optional.  Testing is invaluable in ascertaining whether a pet can safely metabolize general anesthetic medications.  During procedures each pet is monitored by a skilled certified veterinary technician using an ECG and a pulse oximeter.  These devices allow us to monitor pulse, heart rhythm and oxygen levels in your pet’s blood.  Administration of IV and subcutaneous fluids during procedures helps remove anesthetic medication from the body and allows the pets to awaken gently and safely. 

 

Post operative care is also very important.  Each pet is kept warm and comfortable as they awaken. We are committed to assisting pets as they come out of anesthesia with gentle encouragement and compassion.  Pain relief and management is a critical part of this care.
